Brutality 24/7: Neural network generates death metal in real time

Researchers CJ Carr and Zack Zukowski presented a neural network that is able to create a technician death metal in real time. A non-stop stream "Relentless Doppelganger" from a project called Dadabots can be listened to on YouTube.

CJ Carr and Zack Zukowski are reported to have been working for several years on the project of a neural network that can create original compositions after learning from examples from different musical styles. Early experiments included many genres before the team discovered metal and punk music, which, as it turned out, work the best for artificial intelligence.

The neural network was trained to create death metal on music of the Canadian band Archspire with modified SampleRNN (a tool for learning neural networks to generate sound). Other Dadabots music is available on Bandcamp.
